I was elected as Labour councillor for Gowerton in May 2022. I live 500 metres from the stream that separates Waunarlwydd from Gowerton, and I’m the fourth generation of my family to live in Waunarlwydd. I have always loved being involved in my local community: I’m a member of Waunarlwydd RFC and one of the organisers of the Waunarlwydd Carnival, which raised around £5,000 a year for charity before Covid.

On the council I chair the scrutiny working group on taxi services, and I sit on the Petitions Committee and on scrutiny panels and working groups covering highways maintenance, street scene, public toilets, grants, and regeneration and finance.

I worked for BT for more than 40 years, have been a full-time officer of the South Wales Branch of the Communication Workers Union, and have been a Labour Party member for over 30 years. My wife Michelle and I have two daughters: Laura-May is a nurse and Beth is a midwife, and both went to Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr.
